Help

If you're having trouble viewing Channel Lincolnshire, you may find the problem can be resolved by reading the information on this page.

There are three factors that may cause Channel Lincolnshire to play poorly or not at all; these are your video setup, your web browser and your internet connection.

Video Setup

Windows XP/Vista

Channel Lincolnshire uses Windows Media-formatted content. The easiest and best way to make sure that this works is to install Windows Media Player 11 (this is already built-in to most editions of Windows Vista). Microsoft recommend that you have a 1.5 GHz or faster processor and 512 MB of memory in your computer to run Windows Media Player 11. If your PC does not meet these requirements, we recommend that you install the latest codecs seperately and keep your current version of Windows Media Player.
Download Windows Media Player 11 for Windows XP/Vista from Microsoft's website
Download the latest codecs only from Channel Lincolnshire's website

You should also make sure that Windows Media Player is set to be your default media player.

How to set default programs in Windows Vista - follow these instructions to open the Set Default Programs control panel, then select Windows Media Player and click Set this program as default.

Mac OS X

Channel Lincolnshire uses Windows Media-formatted content. To view it on OS X, you will need the Windows Media Components for Quicktime by Flip4Mac.
This software requires Mac OS X 10.3.9 or later and QuickTime 7.0 or later (although we recommend that you use the latest version).
Download Windows Media Components for QuickTime from Apple's website

To ensure that you have the latest version of QuickTime, you should use the Software Update feature.

Web Browser

Windows XP/Vista

Channel Lincolnshire has been developed to work on Internet Explorer 7. We are working to ensure that it runs on other browsers, but we are aware of some issues that are yet to be resolved.

Users of Firefox, Safari Chrome and Opera should install the Windows Media Plugin to enable playback of Windows Media-formatted content.

Download the Windows Media Player Plugin from port25.technet.com (although it says it's for Firefox, it also works for Safari, Chrome and Opera)

We also recommend that you install the latest version of you browser.

Download the latest version of Chrome

Here in our office, we have successfully tested Channel Lincolnshire in Firefox 3.0.3, Safari 3.1.2, Opera 9.6 and Chrome 0.2.149.30. Your mileage may vary...

Opera users may find that the play/stop/skip controls are cut off from the bottom of the video. You can resolve this by using the zoom control in the bottom right corner of the browser to set the zoom to 110%.

Mac OS X

To view Channel Lincolnshire on Mac OS X, we currently recommend that you install the Mozilla Firefox web browser. You will also require the Windows Media Components for Quicktime by Flip4Mac described in the Video Setup section above.

Internet Connection

If you've updated Windows Media Player and your browser, but content still is not playing properly, you may want to check how your internet connection is performing. Channel Lincolnshire has been developed to work with broadband connections from 300 Kbps to 2 Mbps, although faster connections may see minor performance improvements.

There is a plethora of websites that offer free tools to test your connection speed. Try one of the following.
